Weapon Quiz FAQ

Which weapon should I pick in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Start from how you want to move, not from damage tiers. If you value a shield and counters, look at Lance, Gunlance, Charge Blade or Sword & Shield. If you want mobility, Dual Blades, Insect Glaive and Bow move best. If you want the biggest single hits, Great Sword, Hammer and Heavy Bowgun are the burst options.
How does this quiz decide my weapon?
It scores all 14 weapons against four answers: preferred range and mobility, how much you value a block, whether you like burst or sustained damage, and how much mechanical complexity you want. The comparison table below shows the same attributes for every weapon so you can sanity-check the result.
Can I change weapons later?
Yes. Nothing in Wilds locks you into a weapon, and the game supports carrying two weapons on a hunt with the Seikret. Most players end up maining one weapon and keeping a second for specific matchups.
Do all weapons use the same damage type?
No. Hammer and Hunting Horn deal blunt damage and target the head; Bow and both Bowguns deal shot damage; the remaining eleven deal cutting damage and are the only ones that can sever tails. Check a monster’s hitzone columns before choosing.
