Wilds Core Mechanics & Field Survival
Essential guides on Focus Mode, Offset Attacks, hitzone charts, elemental vs raw damage, breakable parts, and early-game progression.
Focus Mode & Wound Targeting
Focus Mode allows players to aim attacks with fine crosshairs and highlights accumulated monster wounds. Attacking highlighted wounds triggers special Focus Strikes with high motion values and flinch rates.
Offset Attacks & Power Clashes
Heavy weapons (Great Sword, Hammer, Lance) can now clash directly into monster charge attacks with timed heavy strikes, knocking the monster back into an instant flinch state.
Seikret Mount & Weapon Swapping
The Seikret mount enables agile exploration across dynamic biomes. Hunters can carry two weapons on hunts and switch between them seamlessly while riding.
Reading Hitzone & Weakness Charts
Every monster part has a hitzone value (0–100) for slash, blunt, and shot damage, plus elemental resistances. Higher = more damage. Use the Weakness Finder to see the best part for your weapon in seconds.
Open Weakness Finder →Elemental vs Raw Damage
Raw (motion value × hitzone) dominates most hunts, but elemental damage scales with each part’s elemental hitzone. Against high-resistance parts, a matching element can out-damage raw. Compare both with the EFR Calculator.
Open EFR Calculator →Breakable Parts & Carving
Breaking a monster’s head, wings, or tail yields rare materials and often severs the tail for an extra carve. Check each monster’s Breakable Parts table before the hunt to plan your target rewards.
